In the late 1700's, the Anderson family built the first brick building in Bedford, Pa, known as Anderson's Mansion. The head of the family, Dr. John Anderson saw the need for a place of rest for travelers and traders, so he converted the bottom half of the mansion to the Golden Eagle Tavern.
The Tavern, (also known as the Pennsylvania House), quickly became known for it's fine food and hospitable lodging for those traveling to and through Bedford, Pa. It was even used during the Whiskey Rebellion for General George Washington and his troops.
Today the Golden Eagle Inn, beautifully restored to its former grandeur, opens its doors once again for travlers and passersby. You are cordially invited to sample a taste of history and heritage.
Located in the heart of historic downtown Bedford Pa, the Golden Eagle Inn will treat you to an experience you won't soon forget.
The perfect weekend getaway from the big city, or even a week long vacation spot, Bedford, Pa's Golden Eagle Inn has been the delight and bright spot for many travelers over the years.
